Opportunities for everyone to learn and grow

With passion and perseverance, Urban Horse Project is providing innovative, accessible new horse programs for urban youth, close to where they live. For many youth, this is the first time they have ever been with or touched a horse. Many lack opportunities to connect with animals and nature.

Our programs are safe and enjoyable, and work for all kinds of learners. Our equine programs help youth increase their resiliency, connect with nature and community, and develop essential skills for success in life. 

Urban Horse Project approach and philosophy

We understand that all people have unique personalities and gifts. Our approach is youth-centred, respecting the needs and interests of those we work with. We believe in the potential of youth. 

We want all youth to have access to programs such as ours. Our focus is on reaching youth who face barriers to participation. We work closely with partner agencies who engage and support youth who face barriers or challenges, to be involved in our horse programs. 

With support from our funders and donors, we have so far been able to provide the Learning With Horses program at no cost to youth and families. We are committed to giving youth a leg up. 

We believe in excellence in community services. We constantly review and improve our service delivery. We use feedback from the youth, our partners and our facilitators to improve our program delivery, and we engage in ongoing professional development.
